The Sony IMX585 delivers 3856 x 2180 pixels (8.3 MP) on a 1/1.2" (11.2 x 6.3 mm) sensor with a 12.85 mm diagonal. A 12 bit ADC and RGGB Bayer matrix preserve color detail and dynamic range for deep-sky imaging.
A high-quality two-stage TEC cooling system can reach about 35 to 40°C below ambient, substantially reducing dark current for long exposures. This helps produce cleaner dark frames and better signal-to-noise for faint nebulae and galaxies.
2.9 µm pixels give a fine sampling balance for many telescopes while offering a large full well of about 47 ke, which helps retain highlights and extend dynamic range during bright cores or moonlit targets.
Over USB 3.0 the camera can run up to 46–47 FPS at 3856x2180 in RAW8, and 23 FPS in Raw16. A built-in 512 MB DDR3 buffer supports high-speed capture. Reported non-amp-glow behavior and low readout noise improve long-exposure uniformity.
The camera uses a lightweight carbon-fiber housing at about 420 g and includes a front 3-point tilt plate plus an optional rear 4-point tilt plate. These let you correct sensor tilt for better corner stars while keeping payload weight low.
